The Directorate of Distance Education (D.D.E) of S.V.University extends a warm and hearty welcome to you. You have taken a wise decision in choosing this DDE for continuing your higher eduction. The D.D.E assures you that it would do its best in providing all assistance and guidance upto your expectation. The main objective of any Directorate of Distance Education is to cater the needs of employees of different sectors, housewives and youth who are deprived of higher education to various reasons. 1. Introduction:

Education is a life long process. It does not stop at any particular age. This is interpreted as a continuing education or continuous education. The conventional system of education was proved inadequate to accomodate the growing needs of the Indian Society. Therefore the system of distance education has emerged as an effective alternative to the conventional system of education. Distance Education system should cater to the needs of those who wish to improve their knowledge and skills.

 

Main Objectives of Distance Education Institutions

a. To provide higher educational opportunities to the people who were deprived of the same earlier.

b. To Promote professional efficiency for the in-service candidates.

c. To meet the challenges of a changing society.

d. To provide wider opportunity to the youth who are not able to join in regular colleges due to various reasons.

e. To provide high quality of education with minimum expenditure.

About Directorate of Distance Educate of Sri Venkateswara University:

With the above motives, S.V.University introduced Correspondence courses in the year 1972 to extend the frontiers of academic excellence beyond its campus. This Institute was upgraded as Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) in April 1995 as per the UGC norms. At present this institute is offering. B.A. B.Com., PG courses Like M.B.A., M.A., (Economics, Telugu, English, Polticial Science, Public Administration, Sociology, and History)M.Com., M.Sc., (Mathematics Computer science, and psychology) B.Lisc., P.G. Diploma in IR& PM and C.Lisc. From this academic year the following new courses are to be introduced. M.S Public Relations, M.A. Education, M.Sc., Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Bio-technology, Bio-Chemistry and LLM

 

I. Admission into I Year B.A./B.Com Courses under Open University System(OUS)

The Directorate of Distance Education, Sri Venkateswara Universit Offers B.A./B.Com., courses of study through Distance Education under Open University System( without formal education). It was introduced from the academic year 1992-93. Admission under Open University system is open to all candidates. Applications are called for eligibility test for admission into B.A../ B.Com., under OUS for academic year 2005-06.

II. ELIGIBILITY:

(1) No pre-requisite educational qualification is required on the part of candidates

(2) Under this system candidates should have completed 18 years of age on 31-8-2005 and should qualify the eligibility test conducted by this institute.

(3) The attested Xerox copy of date of birth certificate obtained from the concerned authority (as stated below) should be invariably  submitted along with the application form, otherwise his/her


application will be summarily rejected for entrance test.

Date of birth certificate should be taken from the following authorities:-

a) Transer certificate of the candidate if studied any course earlier.

b) Date of Birth Certificate obtained from the MRO/ I Class Magistrate/ Municipal Commissioner.

c) SSC Marks statement.

d)The candidate belonging to SC/ST should enclose the caste certificate obtained from the MRO.

III ELIGIBILITY TEST:

1. Candidate seeking admission into B.A./B.Com Courses should write the Eligibility test either in English medium or Telugu medium

2. Eligibility Test is of SSC Standard

3. The eligbility test will have the following components:

Subject Duration Max Marks for

Marks Qualifying

Part -I General Knowledge (50 Questions)

and Current Affairs

Part-II General English (25 Questions) 2 hours 100 35

part-III Elementary Mathematics(25 Questions)

4. The question paper will contain 100 objective type questions , each carrying one mark.

5. A candidate should secure 35% (35/100) of marks in the eligibility test for admission.

However, in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes the minimum pass marks in the eligibility test 25% (25/100)

6. Eligibility Test Centere: S.V.Universit Campus, Tirupati,

7. Date of Eligibility Test: 11-09-2005, Sunday, Time 10.a.m to 12 noon

 

IV a)DESPATCH OF HALL TICKETS:

Candidates are required to enclose two self addressed stamped (Rs.32/-each ) envelopes (9x4) to the application for despatching the Hall-Tickets and marks through Registered post. For ordinary post affix Rs. 5/- stamped envelopes.

b) ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS

The results of the eligibility test will be communicated to the candidate by post. Copies of result sheets will be displayed at the DDE Office, S.V.University, Tirupati.

c) FILLING UP OF THE HALL-TICKET FORMS:

There are two hall-ticket forms marked original and Duplicate which are identical in all respects and both the hall-ticket forms have to be filled in. The photographs have to be attested by a gazetted officer. If the Hall-ticket is not received for any reason, the candidate can collect a duplicate hall-ticket from this office on producton of a passport size photograph one day before the eligibility


test.

Note: The candidates have to submit their Hall-ticket and Rank card at the time of admission. Keep the Hall ticket and marks memo carefully upto your admission.

V. COURSE OF STDY

The course of study for the degree (B.A/B.com.,) shall be in two parts.

Part-I : Part I is common for B.A. and B.Com courses. This consists of Study of

a) First Language - English

b) Another Language(Telugu)

Note: Candidates are permitted to choose Hindi, Tamil, Urdu, Sanskrit, under Part-I(b) as

second Language, but the preperation of study material is at their own risk. This institute will not supply any study material and conduct classes for the second language subject other than Telugu.

Part-I(c) Indian Heritage and Culture and Science and Civilization.

(d) Environmental Education.

Part-II for B.A. Degree:

Under part-II, the candidate admitted in I B.A., Degree , can choose any one of the groub subjects mentioned below:

1. History, Economics, Political Science

2. History, Political Science and Public Administration

3. Sociology, History, Political Science

4. Economics, Political Science, Public Administration.

5. Sociology, Economics and Political Science.

 

Part II for B.Com., Degree:

For the I B.Com there are four papers under Part-II

a) Business Economics

b) Financial Accounting

c) Industrial Organisation and Management

d) Quantitative Techniques

 

VI Duration of the Course:

Duration of B.A./B.Com. degree course is of three years from the date of admission into the course.

 

VII. Mode of instruction:

This institute provides instruction both in English and Telugu medium. The candidates can choose any one of the medium to write the University Examinations.

 

VIII. Examination and Passing Marks


a) The Examinations will be conducted by the controller of Examination, S.V.University

b) Candidates have to pay the examination fee along with the examination applicaton to the Controller of Examinations of S.V.University. This will be informed to the candidates at the end of academic year.

c) The maximum marks for each paper is 100. The Minimum pass marks is 35/100 for all papers.

 

IX. Fee Particulars:

The candidates who are qualified in the eligibility test should pay the following fee for three years.

B.A./B.Com Fee particulars

I year Rs. 1,745/-

II year Rs. 1,320/-

III year Rs. 1,320/-

(The fee includes Registration fee, Tution fee, CPC Fee, Development fee and Hand Book fee)

Note:1. The above fee should be paid only by the qualified candidates in the eligibility test,

after receiving rank card and admission application.

2. The candidates need not pay any fee along with the eligibility test application.

 

X.Contact Programme Classes(CPC):

This institute will organise 12 days C.P.C. at Tirupati and CPC will be conducted in the following study centres also provided there are atleast 50 students are enrolled. Kadapa, Nellore, Madanapalli

Otherwise all students should attend for CPC at Tirupati Only.

 

XI. Study Material:

The study material covering the syllabus prescribed for the course will be despatched to the candidates in two spells. This study material has been prepared by the subject experts,. The students are advised to develop regular reading habit from the beginning.

 

XII. Library Facility:

There is a well established library in the D.D.E. Students are advised to make use of the library for ready reference.

 

XIII. Identity card and Code Roll No.:-

Sutdents admitted into the course will be issued identity card with attested pohoto of the student which contains Code Roll Number. The student should mention the Code Roll No. in all future correspondence regarding the course.

 

XIV. Telephone Counselling:-

Telephone Counselling facility is available in the D.D.E . Students can contact the D.D.E on all Sundays from 10.a.m to 1 pm. Phone No. 0877-2249548, 2249666, Extn: 277, Fax No.0877-2248393

 

XV . Office Timings:

The working hours of the Directorate of Distance Education are 10.15 a.m., to 1.p.m. and 1.45 p.m to 5.00p.m. on all working days. Every sunday and second saturday of every month are holidays.

 

XVI. Important Note:

The following certificates should be enclosed along with the application for the eligibility test.

1. The attested xerox copes of date of birth certificate obtained from the concerned authority as state above in II(iii) a,b & c (T.C, or S.S.C.,)

2. Two self addressed 9"x4" envelopes with postage stamps of Rs. 5/- each.

3. Three recent passport size photographs duly attested should be affixed one on the

application and two on the hall-ticket.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

1. While obtaining the DD, please check, whether the draft is signed by the bank authorities.

2. On the back side of the bank draft the following particulars should be written for its safe accounting.

i. Name of the Student:

ii. Code No.:

iii. Name of the Course/Subject group.

iv. purpose of Payment: (Tution Fee/ Examination Fee etc.)

3. It is necessary that every student of the Directorate of Distance Education(DDE), should quote the

Enrolment number and name of the course and subject in all the correspondence without which no action can be taken.

4. No refund of fee will be made once remitted.

5. If the last day of any transaction falls on a holiday students are allowed to transact the same on the following working day only and not beyond.

6. The candidates are advised to preserve all the fee receipts and identity card till they complete the course.
